NAZARENE MISSIONS INTERNATIONAL
C. Vivian Bentley, Missions President
August 3, 2008
Our Mission—During the month of August there will be
an intentional focus on Mission. Pastor Page will be challenging
each one to consider our own personal mission and Calvary’s
mission at home and abroad.
Our Daily Prayer Should Be – Father, help our feet
to run to the homes and work-places of those we know or may
not know here in our area so we can share the news of Jesus’
peace and forgiveness with them. Give us boldness and new
motivation to proclaim salvation to the lost people in our
lives. Amen.
• Pray for God to open our/your eyes to what the Church
of the Nazarene—and the Church universal—is doing
around the world. Ask God to help us/you to see the spiritual
needs of people in Apopka and throughout the world.
• Envision what God wants us/you to do in mission/outreach,
whether it be financial and prayer support, short-term involvement,
or a long-term assignment. ~~ We as Christians are to go into
all the world and spread the Good News of salvation. Many
of us can not go nor are we called to go “Across the
Sea” to fulfill the Great Commission but, we, all are
called--we can take part in sharing the Good News here at
home.
• Inform yourself and others about the issues of mission
and outreach. You may find that some of the very issues faced
in other world areas are paralleled in our area here at home.
The AIDS pandemic, rehabilitation for addicts, and providing
for child development all have a place in mission in the Church
of the Nazarene .
“The Question: Is there enough passion in the soul
of the church to carry the message of salvation to the peoples
of the world? Dr. Jim Diehl Gen. Superintendent, Church of
the Nazarene.
• Our problem is not with our profession…but with
our passion.
• Our problem is not with our procedures…but with
our passion.
• Our problem is not with our policy…but with
our passion.
• Our problem is not with our purpose…but with
our passion.
• Our problem is not with our programs…but with
our passion.
When it is all said and done: If we lose our passion, we lose
our movement.”
Sin Separates Man From God. The good news of salvation is
to be shared through the lives, testimonies, and preaching
of the word.
